One question: Were they ("Via Ofenziva" personnel) communists?

Via is Italian for "street" so i guess the band name means "Offensive (like a military offensive) street".

Comrade, Via Ofenziva were "alter" in the old Yugoslavia. The singer Esad Babačić is a TV presenter nowadays.
They were against the establishment and the communist party (thus "alter"native).
Unlike their counterparts in other socialist countries, they were allowed to express themselves and criticize the society (just as Laibach were).

At the first time I though that they were communists because of their song "Proleter"

But, after watch Vsak Otrok Je Lep, Ko Se Rodi (Esad's biography)... : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vuek53lm68

...now I know that the lyric of "Proleter" contains critic to the government.

And as you said, in the documentary, Esad seems didn't like with the system and ordinary life like normal workers
