http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-03-20/trayvon-martin-teen-shot-stereotypes/53677634/1 I'm actually somewhat surprised no one has posted on this yet. It's been a big news story here in the U.S.A., this past week. In the state of Florida, a community watch leader, George Zimmerman, shot, and killed, an unarmed, 17 year old, African-American, man, named Trayvon Martin. To me, and others, it's cold blooded murder. But the shooter claims self defense, and the authorities have yet to press charges. So I was just wondering what others here might think of it?
This is the first news story in awhile to affect me on a deeply emotional level. There are no words for my outrage and disgust.
It's evidence that every citizen in liberal democracy is free and equal.
Wait... It's rather sad. I noticed it on CNN at least, but I didn't read their coverage in detail. Soviet America is Free America!
Under communism, there is no freedom; you are not free to live in poverty, be homeless, to be without an education, to starve, or to be without a job
What a shame.
The barbarity of that "shoot first" law enacted in 2005. is beyond belief in the 21st century...
I'd thought about posting it but I didn't really know what to say other than business as usual. It's things like this that makes it clear how big an issue race is in America and the deleterious effects on black children.

It's absolutely disgusting that the shooter isn't being charged. Not to mention that this will bring up the whole race issue again among political opportunists.

These sort of shooting by yokels and trigger-happy racists is making me more anti-gun because I don't want arms in the hands of these crazies. There are no libertarians in dumpsters.
Anti-gun laws in white countries only lead to white people being the only ones with guns.

I don't have the exact statistics but i don't think that more black people get killed by white racists than by other blacks ( BTW the guy who shot Trayvon was Hispanic) . At least judging by Wikipedia. I know a bunch of rednecks with assault rifles and other clearly illegal armament, which they use at any oppotunity, but the government doesn't care until they start fragging with them. Change the color of these rednecks and you can bet an ATF crew will be knocking down their door. Although for many Whites that does effectively make him Hispanic and thus non-White. You have to remember that Whiteness is a special social label in White societies not necessarily related to skin tone. Soviet192491 wrote: Of white peope having more guns than blacks? That's already a fact and is a historic fact in most White nations. This was written by a libertarian but it points out a lot of the underlying motivations of gun control in America and its regularly racist character: http://www.firearmsandliberty.com/cramer.racism.html Coupled with the clear disparity of the courts it becomes clear that gun laws only apply to those White people have a problem with. ![]() لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله - يا عمال العالم اتحدوا Dagoth Ur wrote: The article only shows a historic reference to gun control policies applied to non-whites. I haven't read it fully, but it seems to lack how these laws apply to non-whites today. You must realize that during the times of slavery, slave masters were fearful of letting slaves gain any power for fear of rebellion or escape. It didn't just apply to firearms. Slaves weren't allowed to read and were taught to believe they were subhuman. The reason behind this was as stated, out of fear of escape and/or rebellion. Also you stated: Quote: How many blacks and other non-whites were in Europe before the 20th century? There was no need to establish gun control in most white nations because there were only a small number of indentured servants/slaves from non-white countries. I'm afraid your example only applies to places in which white colonial establishments were already in place, places where whites weren't the absolute majority. I.e. South Africa, Australia, New Zealand If you haven't noticed, the world has changed since colonial times. It's no longer about race over race, only among those who wish to dwell in the past and are still fearful of one race's domination over the other. This not only applies to whites, but blacks, hispanics, and others as well. Also: Quote: In white societies, whites are the only ones there. In multicultural societies, only bigots believe that whites are "special". The only people who have "special social labels" of any privilege are those who control the means of production, the bourgeoisie. ![]() We have beaten you to the moon, but you have beaten us in sausage making.- Nikita Khrushchev Soviet192491 wrote: And it doesn't apply only to slave times. Also the article was just to show a few quick examples of the underlying racial motivations of gun-control as it relates to minorities. Today racism would not be the underlying basis but it [gun-control laws] will end up being applied far more harshly to racial minorities just as every other law is. Soviet192491 wrote: I'm sorry when did this end? Many White people still cling to the idea that blacks are subhuman or that blacks are necessarily criminal. It's not a conscious force for most white people though. Soviet192491 wrote: There were more minorities than Whites in Europe will admit to today (it important to make darkies seem new and connected to modern problems) but you're correct this is definately a colonial problem that persists today. Soviet192491 wrote: Yes the world has changed. Whitness is a tool used to control whites as much as blacks. Whiteness is an important aspect of liberal colonial thinking. ![]() لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله - يا عمال العالم اتحدوا
Well after a massive nation wide protest against the prick, it looks like he is going to be charged.

I've been following this story and makes me so sad. Makes me think of all the kids I knew in high school who could have been this boy. I knew two twins in high school who reminded me some of Martin at least from his photo and what was said about him. With being a football player and making good grades. I'm sure if these two guys were in the same situation they'd be saying awful things about them too even though they were the sweetest kids. It's just been so disgusting the people trying so hard to find ways to justify why Zimmerman killed him.
Like Zimmerman knew the boy was suspended from school? And only for being late too much apparently and he made good grades and was an athlete at his school. And it also pisses me off how only Zimmerman was allowed to defend himself. What about Martin? Didn't he deserve it too? And poor boy was so close to home and being safe. It seems from Zimmerman's history that he has a history of domestic violence and three closed arrests. He also once assaulted a cop and an ex-fiance (the domestic violence) and I can only wonder about the closed arrests. I saw in the press once earlier this week that some neighbors, who were *gasps* black too, had told how they confronted him about his shit with the neighborhood and they were harassed as well. It makes me wonder how this fool could get away with this crap. And not getting even a breath test and being arrested after a murder?! I'm a criminal justice major and I would have done a better job at the scene than the Sanford PD. And that's not really a good thing.... ![]() |
