Which side do you support/ sympathize with in the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s?

The "unitarists" ,that is, Serbia and Montenegro under Milošević and Co. or the separatists (Slovenia, Croatia, Rep. of Bosnia and Herzegovina and others) or the pro-Yugoslav "centralists" (that current was defeated by 1991)?

The Centralists or the Unitarists as the Seperatists were the most reactionary forces.

I don't know exactly, but I think all of them should have remained united. So maybe it was the "centralists"?

I would like to know your opinion Loz, and also that of Moris, and Khlib (apparently she's studied Yugoslavia quite a bit).

I really don't understand that conflict well enough, but my gut reaction is that very few people are better off now than they were before, so remaining as an intact union would have been better.
Soviet America is Free America!

Under communism, there is no freedom; you are not free to live in poverty, be homeless, to be without an education, to starve, or to be without a job

With hindsight, i'd say the "centralists" ( the "leader" of that option was the last premier of SFRY A.Marković, but he barely had any influence by 1991).
Of course, he was an agent of world imperialialism and under him Yugoslavia would have become a capitalist country with all that comes with it, however i guess that's still better than war and the barbarous Milošević clique and reactionary separatists.

Like most other posters I have no idea but my instincts tell me to support the group who wanted to maintain Yugoslavia, so centralists I guess.

Centralists. Brotherhood and unity kept the Yugoslavs strong. Division and ethnic strife turned them into pawns of the imperialists.

I'm not sure think brotherhood and unity could be maintained once Yugoslavia went capitalist... But socialists might have made regained power under a social-democratic Yugoslavia...

And capitalist social democracy, while not ideal by any stretch, is still much moar progressive than ethnic-nationalist fascism.
