Hello Comrades! Its good to be able to finally post this introduction, Sadly due to problems with E-mail this post is much belated and i was only able to read here on this site without being able to contribute any posts til now.

As a new comer to soviet empire, I look forward to many conversations and discussions with you all and hope to expand and improve upon my knowledge base through our interactions.

I am currently writing a Story/Timeline about the USSR which features a Historical divergance focused on early Radio Technology.

I am currently dabbling with lots of ideas and trying to lay the framework for the story, Any input, ideas, suggestions, constructive criticism etc from the many members here at Soviet Empire would be very welcome and much appreciated.

Although i have the thread to discuss the story idea and its possibilities on alternatehistory.com, I was however hoping to start a thread here on Soviet Empire too.

Please could someone advise me as to which forum section would be best to post something like this.

Although i have tried doing some research on wiki which has been fine for some scientific and technological subjects, I dont really trust it to be unbiased or evenhanded regarding subjects related to the USSR or Communism etc.

Can anybody reccomend some sites with sources from the Soviet era which are less tainted by western and capitalist perspectives?

I'm afraid i don't know anything about Soviet radios or tech in general,however you should consider including the famous Soviet Woodpecker in whatever you're writing. Looks pretty cool.

Ahhhh the Woodpecker. Rest assured such an iconic example of Soviet engineering will not be neglected. It is however likely to have a much later appearance as i hope to have the story/timeline's events stretch from pre revolution and civil war onwards up to the present. to be honest i'm a bit daunted by the scale of what i'm taking on, So its likely i will be asking for input and comments a lot once its underway. The concept though, is something so simple yet wide ranging and plausible within its focus that i just want to run with it and see it develop.

im still doing research on a lot of stuff and dabbling with ideas so feel free to participate in the brain storming etc. as well as the evolution of technology under differing events im aiming for a less Russocentric USSR (im hoping that a Communist Germany working together with Russia in the goals of expanding education, technology and anti nationalist programmes could be one of the a viable options?) with Pan Humanistic aspirations with an imperative to ensure the Ideology of Socialism is firmly engraved in the minds of the people both within its borders and outside of them etc.
