If you could live in any socialist country, which would it be and why? In what year would you have liked to live there?
I could only list 10 options, so pick "other" if your choice is not listed.
SFRY hands down. I don't think I even need to explain myself for that one.
Смрт Фашизму! Слобода народу!
SFRY, of course. Probably during the 60's and 70's when dear Marshall Josip Broz Tito was still kickin' it, the economy was doing well, and there was very little ethnic tension.
USSR post-Stalin (mid-60s to mid-80s was best). Cuba, GDR and Hungary would be okay, but the USSR is my homeland by birth and in my heart.

60s USSR or 70s/80s GDR. Present day Cuba is pretty decent too.
The poll should have multiple choices unless the board doesn't permit that. I picked GDR but USSR is an equal pick. Soviet America is Free America!
Under communism, there is no freedom; you are not free to live in poverty, be homeless, to be without an education, to starve, or to be without a job
Czechoslovakia.A nice country, excellent food and beer.
70's USSR for the win.

So, who chose North Korea?
In no particular order:
DPRK: Mid-late 1950s-~1991 Possibly sometime in the 2010s. USSR: 1930s-1986 SFRY: 1945-1990 Cuba: 1960-Present Last edited by Misuzu on 27 Nov 2011, 10:29, edited 2 times in total.
Reason: I misread the question.
German Democratic Republic 50s-70s (before the West got too far ahead).
Misuzu, are you saying you would gladly leave your first world living standard (with talking toilets and all) behind to go live in the DPRK in 1997? Why do I doubt that? Make an exception for the famine at least or you risk not being taken seriously.
Probably USSR or maybe DDR in the Seventies.

By living standards, SFRY or Hungary. By where I would want to live, definitely Czechoslovakia, it is just a past, socialist, undivided version of my country
How come nobody chose Albania with all the accomplishments i was told of, high literacy rate, lots of hoxhaist literature and all villages being electryfied?
I'd like to live in Albania during 1960-1970, don't know why but I really impressed with Hoxha's Albania

I voted for DDR and Czechoslovakia during the 50s-7s since they were the most advanced socialist states and are situated in the heart of Europe.
