Well...
On the first line says "Ichkeria", but I don't know what that is. Unther the logo, it says "Spetznaz" which are the special forces. And under that, "odinokii volk", which I think it translates as lonely wolf.
it's symbol of chechen mujahedeen in republic of Ichkeria
Destroy, what destroys you.
I think that it's a symbol of the Chechen Spetznaz btlns Vostok and Zapad. They used to be part of teh 42nd Motor-Rifles Division. But the division has been disbanded and formed into 3 brigades, and the two btlns have been disbanded and turned into line companies within the new force structure.

Don't tell me you knew that by heart.

It's a guess. I don't think that Chechen rebels had SpetzNaz. I do however know that there were two Chechen GRU SpetzNaz btlns formed called Vostok and Zapad, as part of the 42nd MRD, and that they were disbanded following some scandalous allegations and a brief internal powerstruggle within the Chechen regional government. The patch says Ichkeriya, which makes me wary of trusting it to be Russian troops, but it also says SpetzNaz which is a rather specific term. I don't think Chechen rebel forces even had a formal uniform or force structure, nevermind unit patches or SpetzNaz formations.

What exactly were the SpetzNaz?

So what did they do?

They're basically intended for operations requiring specialised skills which regular army units are not trained for. They continue to be a part of the Russian army.

Actually that's not quite right in my opinion. The GRU SpetzNaz are recon and shock troops. Not special forces. Special forces is stuff like the KGB Alpha or Vympel. They're stricktly speaking called SpetNaz too, but they're not what you linked to.
EDIT: The wikipedia article is misleading. It conflagrates the GRU in general, with the GRU Spetnaz in particular. The SpetzNaz brigades do not perform espionage missions. Typically that is left up to GRU residents and their agents. banistansig1
Hm RussianLord is probably right, i mean it is the symbol of republic of ichkeria but yea, no cecen unit had specnaz. Well on second guess it's maybe symbol of local stationed specnaz under regime, cooperating with russia. But before i let lose too much nonsence i better say nothing :P
Destroy, what destroys you.
Oh, heh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intimidate anyone. I don't have anything against speculation or guesses as long as people recognize that they're speculating or guessing. I'll see if I can get anything more specific on this patch.
EDIT: Aaaaaand I stand corrected. The SpetzNaz unit Lone Wolf was SpetNaz only in name. It was a Chechen insurgent unit around 250 strong led by Salman Raduev. They are known for a major terrorist attack in 1996, when they took over 2000 hostages, and managed to later on break through the Federal Forces cordone around them. Allegedly they were also behind the Moscow Theater Siege in 2002, however that one didn't go so well for them. http://www.nti.org/i_russian/i_e3_35.html banistansig1
