Quote:
"I hope he has the opportunity to meet Karl Marx very soon,
" McCain told a town-hall style meeting of about 150 people, referring to communist theoretician Marx who died on March 14, 1883.

Castro, 81, announced on Tuesday he was stepping down as president and commander-in-chief of Cuba's armed forces after 49 years in power. His brother Raul Castro is expected to be named Cuba's new head of state on Sunday.

"Apparently he is trying to groom his brother Raul," McCain said. "Raul is worse in many respects than Fidel was."

Castro has not appeared in public since undergoing stomach surgery and handing power temporarily to Raul in July 2006.

McCain, a four-term Arizona senator, has an almost insurmountable lead over his last major Republican rival, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

McCain's approach to Cuba has generally echoed that of US President George W Bush, who has tightened a decades-long trade embargo and has rejected easing sanctions without a transition to democracy.

McCain, who is popular among conservative Cuban-Americans, also has said that if he wins the November 4 US presidential election he would keep up pressure for political change in Cuba's one-party state.

That includes a travel ban and trade and financial sanctions enforced a few years after Castro's 1959 revolution on the Caribbean island.

McCain, 71, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, has accused Cubans of participating in the torture of some of his fellow prisoners in Hanoi during the Vietnam War.

McCain is so full of shhhh about being a Christian. Look where he says he hopes Fidel meets Karl Marx soon. The Bible says to Love thy Enemy. Which proves that he is no Christian, or that the church he went to if he ever did was biased. From that quote there is no doubt that Conservative Christians are not Christians, they are are Politicians and more political than religious.

Misunderstanding and intolerance are perfectly Christian!

But yes, I do see what you mean. Thus proving that America is totally incapable with dealing with Cuba rationally.

I'm not criticizing his Christianity I mean to say that he's only saying that to win votes. A pure Republican candidate. If this was 1983 he'd be sniffing cocaine in his office before meeting with some Conservative Christian group on their views and all that bull... Conservative Christians are always saying how Karl Marx is burning in hell, so that quote should be taken as Fidel should burn in hell.

Yeah I know. Marx is burning in hell just as much as Adam Smith and Plato are
.

He is also conveniently ignoring all the other Christian brutalities through the ages. -_-

I don't think God would choose Marx to burn in hell. Since he wanted to help to create a world where the poor aren't exploited. They probably say Marx is burning in hell because of the exaggerated deaths in the USSR and the PRC during the rules of Mao and Stalin.

I'm maybe considering voting if McCain is the presidential nominee for the Republican side. I'll just vote for some third party candidate.

I think the Socialist Party USA have candidates out for President so maybe if I feel like it. But voting for me seems so uncool. You also may get jury duty.

Sorry for my n00b-uninformedness... but do these people really appear on the ballot? I never see them in presidential debates (maybe thats the awesome two party system talking).

I understand you also must make a heafty deposit to run for president... I guess that keeps the common man with good ideas out of politics.

Third party candidates have to petition every state to get on their ballot (unlike Democrats and Republicans). Sometimes they get it, and you'll see them. Other times you'll have to write them in. Depends largely on the base of support for that party in the state. Vermont, for example, might have Republican, Democratic, Green, Progressive, etc. candidates on the ballot.

Ohhh.. I see what you mean by "write in" now. Thanks.

Isn't there also some heafty fee you have to pay to be a presidential candidate?

I think there should be at least 4 or 5 parties including the Rep. and Dem. party that should be major parties. And the other parties shouldn't be ripoff's of the Dem. or Rep. parties. If that were to happen I can guarantee that more people will vote. I'm pretty sure that people are tired of both the Democrats and Republicans.

I don't know if its that, but from looking on the US from the outside... it seems the Republican-Democrat parties are ground into not only the political system of the U.S, but into peoples minds.

Voting and government approval is low. This is why candidates mention universal healthcare and their opposition to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. People take this as if they vote for this candidate and they win universal healthcare will come and the war will end.
