PM asks for reforms at Government Office

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on January 19 stressed the need to start reforming administrative procedures right from the Government Office so that documents, plans and proposals of ministries, sectors and localities can be processed more quickly this year.

Speaking at a meeting held to review the Government Office's activities in 2006 and to discuss tasks for 2007, PM Dung praised the efforts of the Government Office in providing consultancy that enabled him to guide ministries, sectors and localities to issue policies for dealing with urgent socio-economic problems in a timely manner, thereby successfully implementing the socio-economic targets set for 2006.

Concerning the tasks for 2007, PM Dung said that its was necessary to raise the capabilities and effectiveness of the Government to develop the economy rapidly, comprehensively and sustainably.

He said the office, which assisted the Government, should implement the functions of consultancy, inspection and appraisal well and fast so as to serve the activities of the Government, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers.
