More than 4,000 Panamanians have benefited from Operation Miracle

HAVANA — Operation Miracle has benefited thousands of low-income Panamanians who would not have been able to obtain operations in their own country, Camilo Alleyne, Panamanian health minister, told Prensa Latina.

The official expressed his satisfaction at the implementation of the program, which has benefited more than 4,000 people by restoring their eyesight.

After arriving in the Cuban capital, Alleyne also said that his government has a joint project with Cuba for establishing an Operation Miracle headquarters in Panama. This will allow patients to receive their operations in their country, and with the experience that Cuba brings, it will also be a good opportunity for Panamanians and for the Central American region, he said.

Panama is undergoing a process of transformation in this sector, and exchanges of knowledge and technology are contributing to something that is more important than health, which is human solidarity, the minister said.

Alleyne is also president of Health Agenda for the Americas, a continent-wide agency to which Cuba also belongs. (PL)

Seriously how can anyone hate Cuba considering what they contribute to foreign aid.

well my dad say that cuba is a bad place, He says that cuba keeps its people in poverty and the fidel is only concered with power and that he, fidel would of killed che if che got in the way. then again my dad is a liberal so I just nod my head and say yes.

Well, I do think there's too much aid overseas. Cuba's people need medical care too.

Foriegn aid is great, but maybe a fourth of their doctors overseas would be better...

Poverty:
the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions

The thing is that there is not a huge gap economically between people. So in a sense there is no/little poverty in Cuba.

I can not recall any other friends Fidel killed just to get/stay in power.

well, my dad when he talked about poverty in cuba, said that fidel lived in a masion and rich house because he didn't live in a shack. He also said that he purged his freinds after the revolution. Remeber this is my father, a liberal, he belives communism is just a dreamers Idea and won't work ever.
