Branko Pribicevic's work here adequately described the balancing act Tito and subsequent Second Yugoslavian leaders faced between East and West with its grounding as a liberated state from Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman control and from fascist occupation after the First Yugoslavia (The Kingdom of).
It has a good thing to say about the shift in the balance of global powers in causing and then mediating the Bosnian conflict.
