I noticed this article posted over at PoFo and I thought I would see what comrades here thought about it. This interesting article is about North Koreans who defected to the South and what they miss most about their former country. Most of the defectors seem to focus on the quality of personal relationships in the North as opposed to the more individualistic South, although to be sure many of the feelings expressed involve missing friends and relatives which probably has less to do with the differences between North and South Korea.

What do comrades here make of this? Were similar feelings expressed, for example, by East Germans who moved to the West?

Glad they don’t miss being constantly hungry, cold, the lack of electricity, the repression, the p**s-poor health care and living in constant fear.

Funny you should say that because NK is probably the only country in the world where fairytales and pseudo-religious legends are presented as the only and official history.

What is funnier is when you ask him if he wants a Ba-ath party to rule France the answer is no. What’s the bet he would not wish to see a NK style regime in France either. Imagine it, two meals a day, no internet and you’d need a passport and permission to travel outside your city!
