In a recent thread the article Democracy, East Germany and the Berlin Wall. After reading the article I realized how illiterate I was on the DDR. Does anyone have any suggested readings?
The article suggests “What you should know about the wall” from 1962 and “Errors and Successes in the Building of Socialism: Strong and Weak Aspects of the Struggle Against Revisionism” by Kurt Gossweiler, in the collection Collapse of the Soviet Union: Causes and Lessons. Are those works worth reading? ![]() "By what standard of morality can the violence used by a slave to break his chains be considered the same as the violence of a slave master?" - Walter Rodney
Meh. I wish I could help you out, but I know almost only German literature on the GDR. :/

Shit, this is the finest piece of propaganda I've ever read. Does something not occur to you? West Berlin Mayor Brandt wails that half of the GDR, including the workers in the enterprise militia groups, is armed. What do you think of a concentration camp whose inmates have weapons in their hands? "Don't know why i'm still surprised with this shit anyway." - Loz
