Can someone provide me with some sources on the successes of Stalin and the in which the USSR prospered under him. Often people claim that Stalin has done so much, yet I rarely see sources to 'back this up'

Personally, I would recommend reading the words of the great man himself. The collected works of Stalin were translated into English up to 1934 and may be avaliable at least in university libraries. I have the last volume 1930-1934 myself. There are also collected works and I think there is a link to some of his works on some websites.

As for biographies, I have read Deutscher's and Grey's. Both have interest.

I hope this helps.

I found Jerome Davis's Behind Soviet Power online recently. Perhaps you can take a gander.

By the way, it is a great book. The author knows very much about Stalin, and he had several interviews with the man. The author also traveled thousands of miles throughout the country.
