What do people here think of Sun Yat Sen? In my view he was a revolutionary hero who sought to liberate his country from imperialists and brought many freedoms to the peoples who were living under the chauvinist Qing dynasty.

I agree. He was a progressive at a time when Marx's works were not translated in China.

I have mch respect for Sun Yat-Sen. The RSFSR was right to support his struggle for independence and modernisation of the country. In fact his Three Principles of the People reflect Socialist visions (one could read these Principles as Anti-imperialism, Democracy and Socialism), and Sun Yat-Sen himself was in my opinion a Socialist. His wife, Soong Ching-ling, joined the Communist side during the split of 1927, after Sun's death, and later became Vice Chairman, Co-Chairman and later Honorary President of the People's Republic of China. I believe that is a hint regarding Sun's political visions.
In regards to the KMT, I believe the party was corrupted and radically changed by Chiang Kai-Shek, who in all honesty can be called a (proto-) fascist.
