Any comrades here fans of J.R.R. Tolkien? I found this interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m0l3Yr1B50

It is apparently a 1985 Soviet teleplay of Tolkien's The Hobbit. Despite the low production values it was a pretty fun little film. Unfortunately, I could not find a version of the film with legitimate English subtitles (there is only a parody version with subtitles on YouTube).

Also, the 1976 Soviet version of The Hobbit book has some pretty great illustrations that can be found at the link below (although the website erroneously states that the illustrations are from The Lord of the Rings).

I would be interested to know if anyone else has information about Tolkien's works in the Eastern Bloc.
