I have noticed that in the Soviet Union many children were sent to school camps, possibly with the Komsomol. Did everyone attend these camps or was it only a few selected ones? Did they attend as school classes or not knowing each other at all? The reason I ask this is because I remember going on a train on a school trip when I was a boy. What happened at these? Was it something like camraderie or character building?
