Do you think a new civil war might break out in America?
No. I guarantee that anyone who claims to be entertaining the idea of secession doesn't have the nuts to actually carry it out and certainly don't have the brains to maintain it. And if they think that there's a way to secede peacefully, well they should probably reread their history books.

Civil War doesn't necessitate secession.
Voted yes because America cannot change without another civil war. It probably won't happen soon but as America's empire falls apart and shit gets real over here we have no other option. Our society will allow for nothing less. ![]()
Not right now. Certainly not because of a few hundred people signing anything. In the future... who knows?

300 crackpots signing a petition in Oregon doesn't make for a secession...though I'd love to see the urban hippies and redneck farmers try to figure out how to run the state between them

Civil War? Doubt civil war will ever happen unless there is revolution. Whereupon there will mostly be anti-revolutionary conservative states versus revolutionary states.

New civil war in America because some disgruntled white people signed a petition to the White House? Nope.

Yes, but not a separatist war. It will be a popular uprising against the finance capital clique that has sold the US out. At some point within a decade, China will stop accepting the dollar for its exports, and oil producers will also stop trading with the dollar. This will cause a collapse in the US, existentially threatening over 50% of the population; there will be no choice but to cull the baking "elite" and to redistribute wealth to enable real investment. It will be a popular democratic war, not solely a workers' war. Of course, it will be rather glorious given the 200 thousand firearms in circulation in the country.

If there's an economic crash, it'll be militia and fascist time.

There won't be any considerable scale war in America in the near future (next 20 to 50 years) simply because the average American doesn't have a reason to support one. I mean, even with all those recent crisis, the average American citizen still has a very good life quality. So, basically, there's no reason for a civil war.

No, but it ought to. It gives Americans something to focus own whilst they withdraw themselves from international affairs and America is way too big, and should be split up into more manageable countries.

What sign is there of this taking place? For there to be a civil war it means the country must be divided on significant lines. From the outside it seems the US might be divided on racial lines, but what significant ideological differences are there? Of course when the economy is not in a good state then the risk of conflict heightens. This scenario has been seen in numerous examples throughout history. Chinese, German and Russian history show us examples that this is true. I have heard from an American friend that there is a risk of the US economy collapsing in the future. This may lead to armed conflicts if the situation deteriorates to a dire enough extent.
Absolutely not. This is an utterly absurd suggestion. Revolutions and civil wars happen when people are being gunned down for peaceful protests, when people starve to death, etc. What will motivate the average American to grab an M14 and go out to the barricades? The new iPhone 6 not having the promised megapixel camera? The Big Mac being reduced in size on a Department of Health mandate? Please.
No.
The way the U.S. is structured, it's too difficult to break away. No matter how many people want to break off, a majority will either not care, not know that there even is an issue, or will oppose the split.
There is never a civil war over things nobody cares about. You think we won't find things to care about? Apathy has its limits.
