Back around 2005 I was still in high school and made an account here. From what I remember I contributed very little to the discussion and other events in life took me down a pretty different path. I spent half a decade on active duty with the US Army as a military policeman, deployed to Iraq, and continued to work in law enforcement since then. I've worked as an officer with a university and municipal authority and now in the prison system. Through all this I've very much identified as a socialist and generally agree with the doctrines (as I understand them) of Marx, Lenin, and Mao. That said I often have a problem with the way people on the left and radical left comment on the justice system and honestly look at the concept of a global revolution skeptically. Mostly because it almost certainly will lead to a decrease in the quality of life for those living in western states (While that objectively most likely makes me a dickhead I love my chai latte). In any case, Hello!

How long were you in Iraq for?

How does the left in the west comment about the justice system?

To be honest I have no idea. I don't think I was very active at all, more of a lurker. The only thing that really stands out in my memory was another user who made me a pretty cool sig image.

Just a year, just did one deployment back in 2009. Was a pretty interesting experience if nothing else!

Probably more positively than many would imagine. I don't feel qualified to speak on how the system functions across the county since I've only worked in New York. From my experience however the system works as designed to the disadvantage of authorities.

Much thanks!
