Oh nice, that's really awesome. I bet you'll have a blast.

Awesome drawings. I actually liked the hitler one more though, since it looks like the man himself, whereas most drawings of Lenin are quite charicature-esque. I mean I'm pretty sure he never had a massive lantern jaw in real life like how all the posters and statues depict him.

Also, you're a pretty redhead that can draw really well. That's like two of my major weaknesses, so kudos lol.

Some of my drawings:

Fidel Castro:

Che Guevara:

I also have a load of anatomical drawings that I did from college, and a few lord of the rings ones, but I doubt anyone here'll find those particularly interesting.

I actually agree with you on the Hitler note as much as I'd not like to admit it. Lenin took about half the time that hitler did because of that precise charicature-esque reason. I love how Lenin looks so I have many quick sketches of him. Someday I'll get it right
lol

You are quite talented yourself! And after you calling me brainwashed for my framed Stalin portrait I'd have to say that you're an arrogant man with excellent artistic skills which happens to fall very much on the list of my weaknesses as well
I adore the sketch of Che. You captured that smug-like facial expression perfectly. I have a shit-load of anatomical drawings as well. And I'd be interested in seeing any of your art if/when you feel like sharing.

Alright, just because you're so... nice, I'm uploading my old sketchbook as an acrobat reader file. Unfortunately because I'm a noob with a scanner, some of the pages are upside down, but ah well.

Bingo.

If it doesn't work I'll upload individual pages as smaller images, but really it's best viewed in high res.

Aw, yay. I'm excited. And upside-down is okay. I think I can manage rotating some pages lol. I have a sampling of my art on my Facebook but there's really nothing good on there so I guess you'll just have to wait till i finish some more requests and post them on here. Unfortunately (for you) Stalin is my next one, I can't remember who asked for who.

About two months. But getting a proper job has a way of making it seem much longer.

And avatar man is George Grosz. Look him up - he's a total dude.

I don't think so.

I had an art history lecturer at college who was really into the bolsheviks and the russian revolution who showed me George Grosz' stuff. Easily one of my favourite artists.

Tut tut. Surrealism =/= simply weird looking. George Grosz is a Dadaist.

I knew you were going to say something like that. It's not surrealism, though. And I like him because it looks like you would find a coloring book with his work in it and you could just rip out a page and color it yourself. i guess that's why i like it? It's kind of wild

I personally don't have any link or shared heritage with Weimar Germany, it's massively foreign to me in what it's trying to convey. That said, Grosz was good at what he did. I suppose I just have more of a connection with the English heritage and those brought under the wing of the English establishment (apart from shit like the Hay Wain, which was probably jst an in joke gone out of hand) to express the English condition.

Study it closely. Hint: Grosz was a communist.

You know what I mean, JB. How on earth can I possibly feel German (or insert another nationality/culture here) terror or German misery when large parts of its visual medium are totally alien to me? That's what I meant.
I know someone who went to Nepal for 6 months and started chatting shit to me about their spirituality (yes, he was stoned for 6 months straight) without knowing or experiencing very much besides being carked out on a floor for 6 months. It doesn't sound a genuine experience of Nepali life and culture tbh. Like I can read as much into German culture, from various periods, as I want and still be as far away as my friend is from what is actually Nepali.
