They Live

Wiki wrote:
They Live is a 1988 science fiction film directed by John Carpenter, who also wrote the screenplay under the pseudonym Frank Armitage. The film is based on Ray Nelson's 1963 short story Eight O’Clock in the Morning.

Part science fiction thriller and part dark comedy, the film echoed contemporary fears of a declining economy, within a culture of greed and conspicuous consumption common among Americans in the 1980s. In They Live, the ruling class within the moneyed elite are in fact aliens managing human social affairs through the use of a signal on top of the TV broadcast that is concealing their appearance and subliminal messages in mass media.

If anyone is looking for an old scifi movie on youtube, watch this. From a Marxist perspective it is awesome and it is kind of werid how many comrades I've talked to haven't heard of it.

Yeah a vetran comrade from Socialist Action shared it with me. I watch it in honour of election day. The 20 minute fight scene is ridiculous.

Best fight scene in any movie, ever. There are some pretty badass anti-capitalist undercurrents to a lot of late 80's and early 90's movies. Total Recall is another example of this.
