For the upcoming 70th anniversary of the event that plummeted the small nation of Finland into World War II; the Soviet invasion of Finland on November 30th, 1939 - an invasion that was meant to be over within two weeks the most. Instead, it dragged on for 105 days, during which the Red Army took hundreds of thousands casualties from the small nation of Finland: Winter War.

Here are works from my sketch and drawing collection.

The last piece is not a sketch or drawing, but something I captured with a camera.

One of the many many burial fields of the Soviet soldiers who died in Finland. The Soviet Union under Stalin refused to repatriate the bodies, and as such the Finnish had the task of burying the bodies, most them unidentified, in massive fields like this. A block of stone like those that mark the field is an ancient Finnish grave marker.

Yeah, those are very nice. I had no idea you were so talented in art.
