I want to host a movie night for my group, United Students Against Sweatshops, some time in the near future. I'd like it to be a labour film; however, I can slip in a film with some leftists propaganda in it.

Any suggestions? I've been looking at the IWW film suggestions, AFL-CIO film suggestions and the movie list at RevLeft. It would also be nice if I could just get the film from my library and not have to buy it.

Thank you Comrade

I have always wondered how the Soviet people saw these films? Obviously, in the war torn West of the USSR, it is difficult to envisage people flocking to cinemas.

There are lots of very good movies for a communist to see, many of which you can find quoted in the Communist art forum. One I have not seen is Bertolucci's The Last Emperor, about both the Chinese Nationalist revolution and the War of Liberation, which shows how much the empire was corrupt and how the ex-emperor became a communist.

First choice: Roger & Me (1989). I used to know the name of a doc on Canadian maritime labour with a very strong left-wing message but I can't remember the name of it at the moment. I'll get back to you if you're interested still.

Salt of the Earth (1954)? Although I suspect that would have been on the IWW film suggestions.

I'm looking for some pro-communist, revolution, etc. films. Preferably newer (80s-Present), foreign films are great too.

Here's some movies I've seen, definitely worth checking out:
-Reds
-Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (awesome)
-Che

Thanks Comrades!
I apologize if there was another topic similar to this, I looked a bit.
