I think the university is the most impressive building. There is a monumentalism behind it that is fitting for an aspiring superpower. In the 1990s, some liberals criticized the buildings, pointing out that in the late 40s the USSR was in ruins and many people lived in barracks, and yet here Stalin was building these grand skyscrapers. For most people though, these high rises remain one of the most memorable elements of Moscow's skyline.
"The thing about capitalism is that it sounds awful on paper and is horrendous in practice. Communism sounds wonderful on paper and when it was put into practice it was done pretty well for what they had to work with." -MiG
Don't forget the imitations that were built in the 2000s
![]() ![]() Also the foreign ministry building is undergoing powerwashing and renovations and looks strange right now, not not as strange as when it phallic tip thingy was taken down to be rebuilt ![]() ![]() "Bleh, i don't even know what i'm arguing for. What a stupid rant. Disregard what i wrote." - Loz "Every time is gyros time" - Stalinista
Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I find them all quite ugly to look at.
Now what is this…
