Since I couldn't reply to your post in the earlier thread, I opened another one.
Here's how my screen looks - I don't think those green arrows are visible enough because each logo of a section features a different style look, some are red, some are gray, some b&w. I don't think much thought was being put into the common design which then causes me not to be able to distinguish old from new posts. ![]()

Thank you for the screen shot-shot EdvardK (so I can see it displays as intended). It highlights the problems of designing for different resolutions. On your screen the new post indicators could easily be displayed separately to the forum icons, but on lower resolutions this is not practical. There are different ways to make the new-post-indicators stand out, but changing the background with image-sprites will greatly increase the image size and thus load-time for slower connections. Using CSS effects doesn't have those problems, but made scrolling lag on lower spec. machines. Colouring the icon background tends to make it stand out less. There are still some other things that could be tried, but at this time I have other work that needs doing so I'll have to come back to it later.
