There is no "quote" button located on posts. How could this possibly be missing?

Also, why won't it let you edit posts immediately after posting them? It says you can't make a new post so quickly, I'm not trying to make a new post, I'm trying to edit an existing one.

Thanks.

I've been on plenty of forums using phpBB code and they all have a quote button. The quote button is standard on all forums using all manner of software, and it just boggles my mind how this forum can be without one. It's like building a car without a speedometer.

The quote button was being horribly misused, as it is on most forums. Things were getting double, tripled, quadruple posted. It equates to spam. So it was removed.

I did not know that. Thank you for explaining it.

There might not be a quote button, but if you copy paste the text into the quote box, highlight it, and click quote, quote tags will go around it. No joke. It took me a while to figure that one out.

From the FAQ:

Why Can't I make more than one post every 60 seconds?

Because the board flood control will not allow you to do so. It is there to prevent spam. No, the time limit will not be lowered. If you find it too long for you then perhaps you should be thinking about the quality of your posts. The flood control may also prevent you editing your posts sooner than 60 seconds after you have submitted it. The simple way to av

(Edit: In my first paragraph, I just miss spelled paste and said past instead. Unfortunately I can't edit it for another 60 seconds... you'd think being an admin would get you special privileges with that. Anyway it probably took me 60 seconds to write this.)

If you want to quote, you'll have to do it manually. It gives you incentive to think if it is really necessary to quote a post, or the whole post, or what have you.

The edit is a technical problem as mentioned.
No really, I swear, I'm not gay.

I didn't know that either, but it makes sense.

Guess I haven't been around as long as the Old Guard.

Yeah, it was a problem seeing the disgusting boxes upon boxed upon boxes inside of each other in the "olden days". If you look in the n00bs guide in the Introduction forum there's a good example of it, thankfully such things are made more difficult to do by the manual aspect.

I do agree, however, that a quote button would be of use, but only if everybody agreed to not quote quote boxes inside a quote box and that is quite hard to enforce, it would mean editing the inevitable countless posts, I do sorely miss the button though, so I am in a paradoxical situation.
