Not too old. I've known about it for a little while. It's some basic RCS reduction techniques built into an F-15 airframe. Mainly we're talking about frontal hemisphere reduction. It's essentially a 4.5th gen design of the F-15.

Well air combat is not really my specialty. Is there a MiG-29/ SU-27 platform that has the same capabilites or is this F-15 Silent eagle going to be the definitive MiG/ SU 4 gen killer.
THe Su-35BM and MiG-35 are both more or less equivalents.

Wikipedia only mentioned the MiG-35 as being for export, is the Su-35 for export. Do all these aircraft including the f-15 Silent eagle have a modern stealth suite say compared to the F-117. Considering remenants of what was Yugoslavia the only country in the world to have shot done stealth fighters, what we would be the point to by this aircraft if a country in the middle of a bloody civil war can shoot down your untocuhable planes. I know the Stealth isnt exactly stealth, but the JNA didnt have the most advanced soviet Air defence network. One the JNA was a well trained force, the JNA had solid doctrine. But that wasnt the JNA that brought the planes down.
First thing is first, none of them are LO or VLO. Stealth is a vernacular term, not a military one. Second off all have limited RCS reduction and IR reduction features. Third, the F-117 was a VLO aircraft for it's time. It's RCS reduction is still more significant then any of those fighters. The Su-35BM and MiG-35 are both primarily for export.
The Yugoslavia incident is not indicative of systematic underperformance on the F-117, but of one brilliant officer on the JNA side, bad circumstances, and braindead mission planning on the part of the USAF. I would not rely on it to predict future performance. banistansig1
