During WW2, the British couldn't afford to send any tanks to assist New Zealand. So...they made there own...
All they had for blueprints was a picture of an American tank on a post-card. The end result was a tractor which they put thin sheets around it. It also had a crew of eight. It is one of my favorite tanks...because it was horrible. This: fixed image: ![]() Last edited by Shigalyov on 28 Feb 2013, 02:37, edited 1 time in total.

Well it probably wasn't that much worse than the Italian CV-33 "tank":

I can't even begin to imagine what it would have been like being in one of those tiny things with up to seven other people in the heat of a battle. Just thinking about it is giving me claustrophobia. No air-conditioning in these old boxes either I would imagine.

The italians churned out thousands of "tankettes" because they looked like impressive numbers on paper.
Needless to say, they didn't hold up well to British 2 pdr anti tank shells Soviet America is Free America!
Under communism, there is no freedom; you are not free to live in poverty, be homeless, to be without an education, to starve, or to be without a job |
