I think you guys are conveniently forgetting that the red army invaded and terrorised Eastern Europe BEFORE the Nazis got there.

If I recall correctly, the Red Army invaded Finland, eastern Poland, and the Baltic States. I'm not trying to disprove you, and I'm not saying that they were not terrorized, war has a way of doing that; but those countries hardly constitute all of Eastern Europe. Just a minor detail in your statement, but one someone could insult you for later on, or use to attempt to invalidate your argument.

When would you f*cking realise that WE HAVE NOT INVADED ANY COUNTRY?

Did the USSR invaded part of Finland and Poland, and the Baltic states? Yes, THEY did. Also the Polish territory they invaded was the territories Poland previously "stole" to the BSSR.

Did the USSR "terrorized" them? I don't really know, what do you mean by "terrorized"?

Was it necessary given the surrounding circumstances? Likely.

Was it a measure I'd support? Not in 99% time.

Got it?

Terrorizing? No. Reclaiming territory and securing a major city? Yes.

In the 1921 polish-soviet war, poland stole a large swath of land from belarus and ukraine. The soviet invasion of poland both allotted the soviets time to prepare for war, and reclaim lost land.

During the russian revolution, the baltic states were one of the cradles of the revolution. The germans, however, crushed them. The invading entente preserved this status. In the interwar period, the baltics were fascist, german friendly dictatorships that repressed all memory of the proletarian and peasants' revolution beforehand. The german concession of the baltic to recognized soviet influence allowed the USSR to reclaim stolen territory that sided with them to begin with.

With finland, the USSR wanted a small strip of land north of leningrad, as the city practically was the border. The USSR made generous offers to the finns for it, including a significant chunk of karelia more then twice the size of the land requested. The finns refused every offer, and the soviets took it by force.

Convenient how you leave out details.

We? What "we"? We(most of us here) were born in 80's-90's...(myself in 1992)
And you're not an ex-Soviet state citizen either...(me too)

That's the point I'm trying to make Loz.

Notice how I say that THEY and not WE invaded those coutries. Is that dude who is trying to make us responsible of the acts of others, were they right or wrong.

lol, okay. YOU, personally, hold detainees at Guantanamo Bay. YOU invaded Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Grenada and Kuwait, YOU are the single most responsible main player in an economic system that denies adequate food to a billion of people, YOU are responsible for the economic crisis, and every single fragging worker who loses their job, loses it because of YOU.

See what I mean? The trick works both ways.

I am from Romania and my grandmother (an ethnic German, Swabian to be precise) told me her personal, real life experience with the Red Army. In autumn 1944 she was at home in Arad (west Romania, near the border with Hungary), when a bunch of drunk Russian soldiers broke into their house. They stabbed her grandfather and her baby brother to death and raped her for several hours. After that she was beaten unconscious, barely surviving the experience.

This, however, was not all. Several months later, on the sole guilt of being an ethnic German, she was deported in a forced labor camp in the Ukraine, near Krivoy Rog. She was held there and forced to work in terrible conditions for 5 years.

I must mention that she had no fascist sympathies; she had been, in fact, a member of the illegal Romanian Communist Party, a crime punishable by death.

So yeah, save the honor of the Red Army. They were real f*cking heroes.

No one here supports such vile acts and war crimes.
You have to know, though, that such things happen in every war.
Neither Germans(one of Europe's most advanced peoples) nor Soviets(soldiers of a new society) nor Americans were immune of such excesses.
I'm very sorry for victims of RKKA,but many scum like that was shot by NKVD afterward.Red Army was the liberator, and individual sallies such as these don't grim it's glory,or the glory of antifascists.

Slava Crvenoj Armiji,Slava Antifašizmu,Slava Hrvatskim Partizanima!
The 1st Sisak Partisan Detachment (Croatian: Prvi sisački partizanski odred) was an armed anti-fascist military unit. This first Yugoslav Partisan unit was established in Brezovica forest, near Sisak, in today's Croatia on June 22, 1941, the day Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union. It was the first anti-fascist military unit in occupied Europe.

3 soldiers = all the soldiers in the biggest army of the world

Most rapes and other excesses were committed by frontline penal units that were undisciplined. Men who commited such crimes were rounded up and shot by the officers or the NKVD.

Moris,TIGR(The organization, which is considered to be one of the first antifascist resistance movements in Europe, was composed of Slovenes and Croats from the regions that were annexed to the Kingdom of Italy with the Rapallo Treaty of 1920. It was active between 1927 and 1941. Many members of this organization were connected with Yugoslav and British intelligence services and many of them were militarily trained.) is a pre-war organization.
What i said is correct:
"It was the first anti-fascist military unit in occupied Europe"
That is,it was the first anti-fascist military unit organized after German conquest of Europe

sure, it was a pre-war organization but it was very much working in occupied territory. also, OF was a bit older than any other war anti-fascist organization.

Valex just because the soviet offered the finns generous offers and they would not accept does not give the USSR the right to take it by force. It is like if i am a proletarian farmer and a business man wants to buy my land. he offers a good price more than it is worth, but i do not want to sell it. So he takes it buy force. Same shit, still not right. In communism it is all about no private property and what not. So why should a socialist country fight over property that is not there's.

Where did I say the Soviets had the 'right' to take part of Finland by force? Also, that was a war, and in war, shit happens. It's just necessary.

Aigura Kakuru Im taking that with a grain of salt,Soviet soldiers killing a baby? Come on..... The Red Army soldier had a kind heart, too kind - they were practically starving in Berlin because they had given all their rations to the German children of the city. General Chuikov in fact made a messenger make sure his men were getting enough to eat because he seen how much food his soldiers were handing out to the kids.

As for the rapes,2 million? Pure Nazi fantasy. Are any of you aware that Goebbles secretary came clean and told how if 3 women were raped they boosted the number to 30 for propaganda, thats fact. Watch her say this on "Hitlers war the Eastern Front". Bottom line, how many of these women were in the streets saluting Hitler screaming Sieg Heil? They get no sympathy from me
