As much as I don't like Trotsky and think he has objectively done more harm to progressive movements than good, I think executing him was a mistake. It made him a martyr and it's ultimately worked in favour of our enemies.

Do you mean Mercader wasn't a martyr?

I think his death may have been negative on long range. But on short range, it was a very good thing since trotskyism was totally disorganized and mostly disappeared until the 1960's. In a time of war against Nazi Germany, the immediate consequences were more important. However, I regret that he didn't died on the spot, because he didn't deserve to suffer.

Trotskyism is the real unfiltered Marxism. Luckily he did not take over the Soviet Union. No doubt his plans were far more diabolical than Stalin.

Yes the Poles understood. But can you not see that he had many insane ideas? For him there was not to be 'Socialism In One Country' but instead the revolution was to be spread to the rest of Europe.

No they didn't, i was just joking.
Poland was one of the most reactionary countries in the post-Versailles Europe, truly a miserable place.

For example?

All and every Bolshevik wanted that, of course.

November 22nd
(1890) Charles de Gaulle born

(1942) Soviet troops complete the encirclement of the German Sixth Army at Stalingrad.

(1963) Lee Harvey Oswald (allegedly) assassinates President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. Lyndon B. Johnson becomes president.

We've had some of those Moon hoaxers turn up on SE, but have any JFK conspiracy theorists posted anything interesting here?

JFK conspiracies aren't cool anymore. They've been eclipsed by moon landing hoaxes, Mayan prophesies, and New World Order theories.

Now world order people sometimes make some valid points. What they don't realise is that what they are seeing is capitalism and imperialism as a more or less global system, not some back room conspiracy like the smoking man on the X-Files.

Technically, not this day, but I hope that the mods will show some leniency:

Athens, Greece, 2nd of December 1944: 6000 british troops disembark at Faliro, Greece.

3rd of December 1944: A demonstration called by the EAM results in 28 comrades dead and another 140 injured

Night of the 3rd of December: A General Strike is called in honour of the victims

Early Morning of the 4th of December: Lieutenant-General Ronald Scobie, acting in the name of the Greek Government, decrees martial law. At the same time British forces flank and disarm part of EAM's 2nd Regiment.

4th of December: Greek fascists attack the people attending the funeral resulting in 40 dead comrades and 70 injured

5th of December: New demonstartions result in 30 dead comrades and over a 100 injured
Long live Marxism-Leninism--the triumphant banner of Great October, the powerful ideological weapon of the workers of all nations in the struggle against imperialism, for the victory of socialism and communism!

1961: Adolf Eichmann finally gets what's coming to him in Jerusalem (despire apparent interference from the FRG government)
