Happy Boss's Day everybody!

OK, seriously though, only Americans could come up with an idea this inane. I know the vast majority of American workers probably don’t take it seriously, but it still seems like a fitting symbol of the lack of class consciousness in the United States.

Here is the Wikipedia link to the article on Boss’s Day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boss's_Day

Looks like it originated in the U.S. but has spread to a few other countries.

Yes, exactly.

In the U.S. we are supposed to worship our employers as "job creators." Are they also job creators when they cut positions to raise profits? This is more Ayn Rand nonsense where the capitalist is seen as a kind of beneficent superhuman and we lowly, stupid workers should thank them for employing us, even if our wages are meager and we are treated like trash. Why this sort of thinking is so popular in the U.S., even among workers, is beyond me.

Spotted it last year Piccolo, noted it's spreading around the globe. Albeit at snail's pace. Funny--culture gap. Maybe the Atlantic got that bit wider....

Watched Dragons Den --first time in over five years. Poor people begging for money from rich folk. Bums-vagabonds-tramps-scroungers-deadbeats-hobos-panhandlers-vagrants-skidrow skivers--- Aspirational version of Benefits Street.

The world is riven by class — not race, gender, age or disability. There is only one human race, and any ideas that promote divisions between us do the work of capitalism.
