Comrades,I believe there should be avatar of Todor Zhivkov.I think he is THE BEST COMMUNIST LEADER EVER WORLDWIDE.If his cabal against Gorbachev had succeeded we would have been living in much better world.Look at his biography:

Todor Zhivkov is Bulgarian political leader. A publisher, and a Communist party member from 1932, he was a partisan leader during World War II and headed the coup against the monarchy in September 1944. In 1948 he became a member of the Communist party central committee. His steady rise culminated in 1954 when he became first secretary of the party. He served (1962-71) as premier before assuming (1971) the post of president of Bulgaria. He maintained close relations with the Soviet Union throughout his tenure of office, making Bulgaria the most compliant Soviet satellite. He was close friend with Leonid Brezhnev. At that time Bulgaria was leading state in Warsaw pakt and SIV/council for economical mutual aid/.Zhivkov even suggested that Bulgaria should become the 16'th soviet republic.
On November 10, 1989, Zhivkov was ousted from the presidency following a revolt against him within the Communist party that was backed by Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev , and his supporters in the politburo were purged.

ZHivkov not only didn't accept the PERESTROIKA, but also tried to subvert Gorbachev in late 80's. The cabal of Zhivkov is mentionned not only in his memoirs , but in recollection of many intelligence agencies. November 10 1989 - ZHivkov has retired from post of the secretary general. This was the most calm and bloodless upheaval in former socialist camp. The Bulgarian communist party was quickly renamed to Bulgarian socialist party ant took part in the elections.

During his rule there were close relations between Soviet Union and Bulgaria. This was time of wealth and prosperity for Bulgarian people. 85% of older Bulgarians /45+ years/ feel nostalgia for that times.

I agree. But isn't it ironic? - there's not a single street in our country on his name ? There isn't such street in USSR,too.Zhivkov was a big friend of Russia and he was always welcomed in Kremlin.

I’ve found these jokes about Todor Zhivkov and the socialism in an old book. They are a demonstration of a horrible propaganda, I dislike them a lot, but I’ve decided to show them to you, to see how stupid some people can be towards one undoubtedly great man!
TODOR ZHIVKOV

Some fortunate-teller’s phone rang. She answered and heard a voice:
- May a man live 100 years?
- Yes, it’s possible.
- And 150 years?
- Yes, that’s possible too.
- What about 200 years?
- Comrade Zhivkov, is that you?

On the opening of the Olympics in Mexico Todor Zhivkov’s son Vladimir reads a welcoming speech.
- O!… ahem… O!... ahem…
One from the delegation tells him:
- Go on. Those are the Olympic circles…

Todor Zhivkov said on the opening of a new factory:
- Today we are building a factory for semi-conductors, the next year we’ll open one for entire conductors!

Todor Zhivkov decided to check how are living the people. He knocks on some door and a little boy opens.
- Where is your dad, little boy?
- He’s gone to work with the Mercedess.
- And your mother?
- She’s gone shopping with the Fiat.
- And what are you doing?
- I was watching video, but now I’m going to play with the computer.
- Do you know who am I, little boy?
- No.
- I’m the one, whom you should thank for all this.
- Grandpa, grandpa – shouted the boy – uncle Hans from Western Germany has come to see us!

One man goes to the party secretary and tells him that he wants to change his name.
- What’s your name? – asked the commissar.
- Todor Shithole
- Oh, yes, that’s an ugly name. What do you want to exchange it with?
- Whatever, only not Todor!

A man is standing in the middle of the street and watches thoughtful one can. The people ask him why is he so pensive. He says:
- I open the newspaper and I see Todor Zhivkov. I turn on the radio – they are talking about him. I turn on the TV – him again. So now I’m wondering if I should open this can…

SOCIALISM

- How are you doing in Bulgaria?
- Well, we lay them that we work, they lie us that they pay us.

Two leaders of socialist countries talk:
- Are there political jokes for you?
- A lot!
- And what do you do?
- I collect them. What about you?
- I collect the people who are telling them.

- Will there be robberies during the communism?
- No, because there will be nothing to steal after the socialism.

Bulgaria is the most independent state in the world – nothing depends on it.

One man writes to his friend to the west: “It’s very expensive here. One chicken is worth 10 levs (Bulgarian monetary unit).” But he’s called in the police department, where he is “advised” what to write. Later, he writes “It’s very cheap here. One elephant is worth 8 levs. But what could I do with a whole elephant, I give 2 more levs and I buy a chicken!”

- What is your complaint?
- Doctor, I see one thing, I see other…
- Sorry, we can’t cure socialism here.

- What is the difference between the democracy and the socialist democracy?
- Like between the chair and the electrical chair.

The teacher asks:
- Which are the socialist states?
Only Ivan raises his arm.
- Bulgaria, USSR, Romania, Poland…
- Good, Ivan, go on!
- Mars, Venus, Jupiter…
- But these are planets!
- It’s all the same, madam. There isn’t live there either.

A political lecturer reads a lection for the technological progress.
- Comrades, in 1990 we will be able to go to Mars, and in 1995 – to Venus.
One voice from the public asks:
- And when will we be able to go to Paris?

A school teacher and her students are walking in the forest to make some observations. Suddenly, a bunny hopes from a bush. The teacher asks:
- What is this, kids?
Nobody says anything.
- Come on, you’ve been told stories for him in the kindergarten, you’ve sung songs for him, you’ve been telling poems for him…
One kid says:
- That must be comrade Lenin…

A Bulgarian and an American are talking. The American says:
- We have a real democracy in America! You can shout in front of the White House “Down with Reagan! Down with his politics” and nobody will tell you anything!
- It’s the same with us – the Bulgarian said – you can shout in front of our Parliament “Down with Reagan! Down with his politics” and nobody will tell you anything.

Although now in Bulgaria the majority of people spits on the name of Zhivkov I think he deserves respect because unlike all politics after his fall he didn't use his power to batten on behalf of the people, but cared about Bulgaria and its people. He has done much more for Bulgaria than anyone else in the newer history of Bulgaria. The propaganda is a really powerful force, but some day people will realize that they shouldn't believe everything that is said to them. Then Zhivkov's name will be cleared from the dirt that is now cast upon it. I hope this day will come soon.
