I understand that Papa Doc had a love/hate relationship with the U.S.. Did Haiti ever go through Socialist reforms during Papa Doc's reign?

Not to my knowledge. I've only ever heard of him as a strage, corrupt figure who maintained power through the use of private armies and played on the superstitions of voodoo practitioners to build a bizarre cult of personality. He portrayed himself as something akin to Baron Samedi (from voodoo) and fostered a personality cult in which he was said to embody the entire nation. There was no socialism from what I've heard, only a corrupt capitalist kleptocracy.

That pretty much sums him up, yeah. His son, 'Baby Doc' Duvalier, was an even bigger asshole, though. And fat, which is even worse. At least 'Papa Doc' kept himself in good trim.

Both Papa and Baby Doc were yank puppets.
Jean Bertrand Aristide was Haiti's first democratically elected president. While he was not Socialist, we was what we could describe as "Social Democrat" who wished a better life for the majority of Haiti's people which put him at odds with the U.S. and its neo-liberal "NWO" favouring its corporations and Haiti's mulatto wealthy elites.
