The background story behind these three pictures cannot be reconstructed as accompanying documents seem to have been destroyed. They were found after the fall of the Berlin Wall in the offices of Erich Mielke, the Minster of State Security. This leads us to assume that the incident documented here was so important that it was handled at the very top by the head if the Stasi himself and that the investigations were given the highest priortity.
