I love this article, and how it explains why people don't need pornography under socialism.
And I love the gallery, too.

Discuss!

"In regards to sexuality, the GDR was completely immoral, especially if judged by Western standards. In the West there was a whole industry geared toward fantasy fulfillment whereas in the East, people just did those things. It was sexual anarchy."

That is liberation, maaaaaan!

Now if we could just get them some razors...

Anyways, interesting find, Mabool.

It was the eighties, man.

I've always thought of East Germany as being rather conservative socially. Are you sure this kind of thinking was wide spread Mabool?
Post 29 Sep 2009, 14:26
East Germans are still famous for being nudists, so... yes, actually I do.
Post 29 Sep 2009, 14:28
Well that's interesting.

Nudism doesn't necessarily mean sexuality. Germans are stereotyped for having some 'different' sexual habits, though we have to remember that the guy being interviewed was an artist, and his opinion on sexuality in the GDR doesn't necessarily reflect those of ordinary East German workers. His attitudes were likely to be shaped by those around him -other intellectuals and 'avant garde' artists.

I have to agree with Soviet78 here. We can't use artists exclusively as a measure of East German sexuality in it's entirety. The fact this guy was permitted to do his work is an interesting indication however.

So? Razors weren't invented until 1990? It probably has more to do with the fact that it's Europe more than the times, anyways. I'm half-joking.

Or maybe pubic shaving wasn't widespread in western countries yet?

lol, you're an idiot. In Europe, shaving is considered so normal that 90% of people are actually disgusted by pubic hair. Whereas in the US, people find pubic hair hot because they don't know any better.

Wait I thought the stereotype was that people in Europe didn't shave and all had really hairy legs.
Post 05 Oct 2009, 18:44
Wait I thought you're wrong. I've never seen a hairy pussy irl before, and I have seen my fair share of pussies.

I don't care if you're from Germany, thus being from Europe. Euro chicks all have hairy vagina's and other body parts. It's a fact of life.

Mabool is right, Tyler. I've looked a few pussies myself and I can tell that they are as bald as a bean (although some girls have nice landing strips) because girls take care of themselves, unlike us men.
