I found this wonderful music video with highlights of the 1980 Moscow Olympics opening ceremony, complete with a feel good Olympic theme song as an overture. I've personally never seen anything televised from the 1980 Summer Olympics.

Enjoy.

Nice.

On a related note, it's a shame how the USSR played tit for tat with the US by boycotting the 1984 games (subsequently making a fool of itself, and denying many athletes literally the chance of a lifetime). I think the country's leadership should have been smarter and more mature than that.

Those were the kinds of stupid political games both sides played.

But the US was the first one in mistaken politics with sports, so I think the USSR did what they had to do.

USSR should have been more wise than US, and not replying to fire with more fire...

The US certainly made the mistake first, but the USSR could have just ignored it and taken the higher road in 1984. Plus, the USSR would have gotten a lot of medals in 1984.

Many would admit it as a admission of guilty on the american's accusations of waging war against innocent afghani rural folks...
