Have been viewing these forums for a few years now, and decided to finally join the boards. I have a long time reader of blogs by Stephen Gowans and Michael Parenti and read many of Marx, Lenin texts among others and am hoping to expand my knowledge more in understanding Soviet history, particularly that of the Eastern Bloc, I'm of slovenian ancestry. Having visited Cuba and noted the way society is organized I see it as a powerful alternative, based on the numerous constraints imposed on the regime I think it is a wonder what they have accomplished. I only visited slovakia after the fall of communism but I noted the medical system was of top notch quality and the country was beautiful. Really refreshing to read many of the accounts of members who have travelled around Eastern Bloc and have something to share. Nice to be part of the club haha.
