Maybe somebody can modify a Soviet poster? They're pretty awesome and there are quite a few that look a bit menacing.

What's wrong with the welcome to perma bannistan pic Chaz used to use?

Nothing, I just didn't think about it at the time. I will change Champ's sig to the Perma, Banistan banner soon, though.

I was browsing through old mir topics as I sometimes do, and found this. Thought it was worth reposting. Oblisk seemed to have the right idea.

Proof that at one point Oblisk was a pretty cool guy and I liked him.

Juche
Taking the fun out of life since 1955.

I still think Oblisk is cool though.

You are mistaken. I still am.

As long as it isn't Chaz hiding behind a red card...

Those are still the official cards here, fitz, and you are the poster child for incessant b ehaviour that is cardable..

Now that Chaz seems to be back (great to see btw), what's happening with new pics? Are we gonna change anything?
Post 27 May 2010, 01:21
no. I don't think they need to be
Post 27 May 2010, 01:28
how old are they? perhaps there should be 2 for each? maybe not. it's not a really important matter really.
Post 27 May 2010, 18:49
it isn't. Carding isn't something to be proud of. we had fun with it, i kept mine simply because I do 99% of the carding here when I'm not in jail/prison/mental hospital. If the other admins want their own, so be it. the ban cards, we already have two. we used to have the same cards that pofo uses. Pofo is S-E's fat, boorish, unattractive, intolerant little sister. I didn't want that here anymore.

jail/prison

Is there a difference?
Post 27 May 2010, 21:20
HUGE difference.

Jail is a place for misdemeanor offenders and people awaiting sentencing on felonies. Prison is where you do real time. Convicted felons only. Murderers and rapists and crimes against humanity and that sort all end up in prison. You cannot be sentenced to jail if you are a convicted felon.

Jail really sucks. you never see the sun.

It is a lot like federal lock down.
Post 28 May 2010, 00:31
I never knew that.

So prison is for the real bad dudes... and jail is for people who do lesser evils, but it is actually worse because you don't see the sun? Is that right?
Post 28 May 2010, 00:35
somewhat. The US penal system leaves a lot to be desired. it gives you a lot of time to think. That's for sure.
Post 28 May 2010, 00:37
what other differences are there between the two? also do you do stuff like work or do you just sit around and think? if you just sit around and think, is it worth it? like, do you think about deeply philosophical stuff and reach awesome conclusions you'd never have been able to reach otherwise, or is it just a massive waste of time?

Work is in prisons. Jails do not have work programs in general.

The other main difference is the vast size and who runs them.

Counties run jails, The state runs prisons and then there are Federal Prisons.

Essentially. I wrote hundreds of pages of stuff. But I could have done that anywhere. It changes you in so many subtle ways I cannot describe. It makes you much weaker and angrier. That's a fact.

i guess federal prisons are the worst ones?
also yeah, i've heard there are private prisons in the us... are they essentially companies that get slave labour?

They are essentially old and dilapidated. They are miserable places to be. I've been in one.

Nightmarish places. Newer, Cleaner, but you have to pay to receive medical attention. Slave labor? No. Underpaid labor? Yep. They do have programs to allow money to be paid to prisoners to get paper and pens and phone privileges, etc.

Lock Down has it's advantages. You get left alone. And sometimes for days on end. but it is great for reading and writing.
