So, comrades, why is nobody talking about this? Out-and-out racist reactionary thugs are trying to overthrow the democratically-elected 'socialistic' government. We threw a fit over Ukraine, why not this?

I don't know about you guys, but I think this would be a good time and place for the Bolivarian Republic to show its teeth. It showed off how it got guns and tanks and airplanes from Russia to equip its armed forces and people (including a militia), why not use them now to crush these fascist agitators? frag 'em, I say.

Agreed!

Self Defense becoming a dirty word among most leftists is fragging shameful!

Socialism through the Barrel of a Gun meets with my approval!

That would give imperialism a great opening for another "humanitarian" intervention..

Slightly older article but it gives a some good thoughts on the background to the protests/coup attempt: Venezuelan right-wing gangs’ violence potential prelude to coup attempt.

I'm quite concerned of the situation in Venezuela, there seems to be no relevant articles on it as everything is focused on Ukraine. I had read one that focused on how Cuba would be affected if Venezuela had to cut off or reduce oil. Of course, it was biased against the Venezuelan government and Cuba so I won't bother posting it up. However, suppose Venezuela would have to cut off its supplies or Maduro was removed from power, how badly would Cuba be affected? Would it be another Special Period?

I don't think that will happen any time soon. The opposition isn't that strong and most agree that this is more a part of an internal power struggle amongst the opposition than a real attempt to take state power by them.

But if you are having a hard time finding articles, I suggest frequenting http://venezuelanalysis.com/

It's a very good resource on Venezuela.

The opposition needs foreign backing in order to succeed. Another important factor is that the Venezuelan government has learned from previous coup attempts such as the 2002 coup with the role US imperialism has in destabilizing the country.
