Welcome to SE.

I turned Democrat, then Socialist, then Communist, then more or less Socialist again because I believe it is the only ideology that can deal creatively, constructively, and progressively with the challenges of a global economy, catastrophic climate change, and social inequality.

I became a communist 10 years ago when I read an excellent biography of Lenin. Lenin's ideas were so clear, so perfect, and his deeds so glorious, that I already admired the man. But that wouldn't have been enough to transform me into a Communist. I started reading Lenin himself, and from Lenin, I read Marx and Engels, and then other communists such as Althusser and Politzer, and I was really impressed by dialectical materialism, because those philosophers were actually describing and explaining the world as it was around me: full of lies and ideology produced by the dominant class. I remember that, as I was reading Lenin's work, I dreamed about it at night, and I think that Lenin, much more than Marx, really stroke my mind.

Then, I joined the Communist Party.
