Soviet Doctor - Capitalist World

Here's something pretty funny I just found, what happens when you get a Russian doctor hosting a capitalist TV show? Well there really is only one answer. The doktor will see you now...

U.S.S.R. Government Outline Agreed

Discussions on the forum have moved along over the last couple of days onto the best way to govern the U.S.S.R. and it seems to have been generally agreed upon using a slightly modified version of the R.S.F.S.R.'s (Russia 1918) constitution. The system involves representatives being elected from local congress and on a national basis to a congress of Soviets, which is the supreme legislative body. This in turn elects a central committee that makes all the departmental appointments.

Focus is now shifting towards some of the details such as if we should wait until we have a certain population before holding elections, and what the boundaries of the various regions should be, to which are old comrade General Secretary Andropov has returned to the forums to help contribute.

And speaking of old comrades, we also had a visit from another former PRNSE general Secretary - comrade Cromien - who is slowly recovering from his injuries in a car accident. We all wish him that best and hope that he will be able to join us again in the future!

Links Page

A new links page has been added to replace the large number of links that were on the right hand side navigation bar. This should result in slightly faster page load times and an increased chance of me actually adding new sites .

U.S.S.R. 2002

Discussions have begun on the web forums this week on the form the government of the Soviet Union simulation should take, and as people have started using the term U.S.S.R. 2002 to describe the project (due for launch in 2002 - oddly enough) I'll start using that from now on in the news too, as I rather like it.

The direction of initial conversations has been to make it a single party state - true to form - but that we must avoid the intensely bureaucratic system that developed in the real U.S.S.R. This means going back to the drawing board as far as the constitution is concerned to try and find a balance truer to what Lenin would have wanted to the U.S.S.R. to be like, rather than what Stalin created. For this purpose the old yahoo e-mail discussion group has been re-opened for those that wish to use it as well as the forums and it can be found here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ussr/.

Murphy’s Laws of Combat

I just uploaded Murphy's Laws of Combat to the Library section of the site. Something I said on the forums that I was going to do about 9 months ago... oops. Well anyway, it's there now. One by one I'm going through everything I've been sent and upload it to the site, who knows, I might even finish one day...

Today’s update

Bristol Comrades New Term Meeting

Those of us from the Bristol area met last night in the building formerly known as the "Commissariat of Internal Affairs", which may mean something to at least some of our readers. Anyway, nothing particularly website related was discussed apart from the fact the jT doesn't have home net access at the moment (note to all those e-mailing him: this is why you have not had answers to your e-mails).

The evening out ended with "Commissar" A_Monk having a run in with someone he would probably have preferred not *coughthelandlordcough* after walking homeward still carrying an unfinished pint... and as such our next gathering is likely to be at a someone different location.

At any rate the it was good to see everyone together again, with this being the first time all four of us have met up for some time, and being joined also by some of our non-website comrades. Finally concluding with some serious reminiscing playing the age-old computer game "Chocks Away"... which resulted in me crashing my plane after an abortive dogfight with A_Monk in historic time honoured fashion. Anyone who has played the game will know what I'm talking about, and if not, where have you been?

T-80 page updated

Cheers to Shadow "Dragonoff" for posting the stats for the T-80B tank on the discussion forums. I've now added them to the T-80 webpage.

If anyone else has any info for the site or spots any mistakes please do not hesitate to e-mail me. I won't bite.

Forum Rules

For those interested I have uploaded a "forum rules" webpage to the site, which may be found in the library here.

Though I had planned to upload it this morning I overslept, so it had to wait until I got back from university tonight. Hopefully the new page will make sure that there is no confusion over what is and isn't acceptable behaviour on the forums and will be updated over time as new (and doubtless unexpected) situations arise.
