MiG 1-42 MFI
Development/History
The Mikoyan 1-42 MFI (mnogofunktsionalnyy frontovoyistrebityel or multi-role tactical aircraft) was selected in 1986 to be Russia's next generation fighter. Manufacture of two prototypes is believed to have been completed, although the specified engines were unavailable. Lyulka engines were fitted to enable high speed taxi trials to be conducted but it is believed that the first flight has been delayed due to funding difficulties.
